Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised»role model» James Milner later he helped a youthful Liverpool side advance to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Milner scored the opening goal since they won 2-0 away to Mk Dons about Wednesday night to set up an attractive tie at home to Arsenal.
Harvey Elliott became the youngest player to begin a competitive match for the Reds in 16 decades and 174 days old and twice struck the crossbar, but it had been evergreen Milner that Klopp chosen out as their key performer.
«This man is on fire,» Klopp replied when asked regarding the 33-year-old’s contribution.
«This is the way it is, it’s good. It helps a great deal and he’s a real role model for young players. If we can play each day he’d be like this each day – that is how it is.
«The team needed a lack of expertise and too little the player with the most experience and rhythm has been the best player .
«We were here to win the match, no other reason, so that I am rather glad we went , that is cool.»
Curtis Jones (18) was man of the game along with Ki-Jana Hoever (17) scored Liverpool’s second goal but it was Elliott who made the plaudits from his supervisor.
«Sixteen years old nonetheless and this sort of footballer, it is fantastic for people,» additional Klopp.
«[He is] a brilliant boy, chooses the situation very well, desires to understand and he will always be a particular player in minutes but his general game that is really, really great.
«He was somewhat unlucky otherwise he’d have scored, he is a fantastic player but they are all great.
«We don’t have any poor young players and that’s exactly why it’s important we can provide them these games and try to continue like this.»
Liverpool return to Premier League activity against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday before confronting Red Bull Salzburg at Anfield in the Champions League on Wednesday.
