Antonio Brown has agreed a deal with the New England Patriots, hours according to multiple reports.
Brown along with the Patriots consented to some one-year deal worth up to $15m (#12m) which comprises a $9m (#7.2m) signing bonus, according to reports.
The 31-year-old took to the deal that was all-but-confirm to media, posting an image of himself with hat and a jersey.
The news came on a day in which Oakland released Brown a bit more than 48 hours prior to the Raiders’ season opener.
Patriots start their season against the former side Pittsburgh Steelers, whenever their Super Bowl championship banner will be raised by them of Brown ads.
Brown played 130 matches to get Steelers in nine seasons in Heinz Field, to Raiders before his move.
The move capped a tumultuous week at Oakland and came only hours after the wide receiver submitted a message into Instagram on Saturday morning which finished with»Release me @raiders».
Brown became a free agent at 4:01pm Eastern Time on Saturday and was free to sign with any team. He’s qualified to play in Week 2.
«We tried every way possible to make it function,» Raiders coach Jon Gruden told reporters.
«All I will say is it is disappointing. I’m very pleased with our clients, our coaches, our owner. We did what we can to make this job. I’m sorry it did not. I apologise, but I will tell you I’m very proud of what we did an organisation to attempt. I need Antonio nothing but the best.»
Speaking on NFL Network Brown’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said he’ll get to work on finding a team.
«It has been well-documented that it has been a rocky road from the start,» Rosenhaus said.
«Unfortunately, not all connections between teams and players work out. Everybody had the best intentions going in but it did not pan out.»
The release of brown came less than 24 hours following Gruden said he expected the wide receiver to play in Monday’s season opener.
He was fined $215,000 (#175,000) on Friday for a confrontation with all Raiders general manager Mike Mayock previously in this week.
The behavior fine voided the approximately $30m (#24m) of guarantees in his arrangement, although the Raiders also reportedly wouldn’t be obligated to give him any termination pay.
The Raiders obtained Brown at a trade in March, delivering fifth-round along with third-round draft picks. Then they signed him to some three-year, $50m (Number 40m) restructured contract extension. According to reports, the Raiders have to cover any money to Brown.
