Carolina Panthers 37-26 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: London debut win for Panthers
The Carolina Panthers overcame the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on their first visit to London, beating against their NFC South competitions.
On a desperately bad day for the Bucs (2-4), the drama of Jameis Winston was especially about, together with all the fifth-year quarterback intercepted five occasions and turning the ball around on six different occasions. The play of the offensive line didnt help, to the song of seven sacks together with Winston plagued.
The Panthers (4-2) flipped Tampa Bays seven total turnovers to 20 points, with early-season MVP candidate, Christian McCaffrey, running in one of those scores within his two-TD moment.
The second, run and a 25-yard catch from the next quarter of mcCaffrey, was something of beauty, since he lined up abandoned but juked back inside to make a flat-footed Vernon Hargreaves about the floor to pave the road for an easy touchdown.
That bit of McCaffrey genius helped Carolina border out into a 17-7 lead at the half, following Tampa Bay had fought back to within three after a Ronald Jones five-yard touchdown run.
The Panthers streaked further out in front, 34-10 early in the fourth quarter, together with two Curtis Samuel TDs both sides of a Matt Gay field goal for Tampa Bay.
An score, samuels original, came from the back of the third largest of Winston to start the fourth quarter.
The Bucs finally stopped shooting themselves in the base on offense – with the exclusion of a Bobo Wilson muffed punt return for a fifth turnover – to run in 2 TDs (and two successful two-point conversions), good for 16 points.
But Winston withdrew interceptions and his fourth in the last two and a half an hour of the match to end any hopes of a stunning comeback.
Winstons tragedy day was foreshadowed as early as the opening play from scrimmage, with cornerback James Bradberry swooping ahead of goal such as the interception, establishing a Joey Slye area goal.
A 99-yard touchdown push watched with it eventually running in the endzone to a call their lead stretchs to 10-0.
With the Buccaneers still desperately struggling on offense, they have a helping hand from their special teams unit, even as Ryan Smith showed great hustle to knock the ball loose.
Left the Bucs taking on at the Carolina 37-yard line, with a field, Tampa Bay were eventually able to get on the board as Jones rumbled in from 5 yards out.
But, on their next possession, Winston was chosen off a second period – Bruce Irvin hitting on the QBs pitching arm and also Javien Elliott hauling in the resulting wayward throw – setting the impressive score of McCaffrey up.
Winston would fumble two before the half – losing among them on his approach to enduring six first-half sacks, however, that couldnt turn into points.
Slye got Carolina up and running again with a field target at the second half, before another inexcusable Winston interception, backed up in his own half gifted a chance for more things to that the Panthers.
Luke Kuechly undercut Evans route and Winston that the All-Pro linebacker, threw it straight to him. Samuel did the remainder from eight metres out.
Buccaneers kicker Matt Gay bent in between the posts, a la David Beckham, to finally get Tampa Bay up and operating in the second half, but it seemed like game over when Samuel opened the fourth quarter with a great 13-yard touchdown reception for Carolina.
Tampa Bay, and Winston, responded with two touchdown drives – Winston discovering Cameron Brate from 10 yards out and Dare Ogunbowale – 2 reduce pull to within 11 after a couple of attempts.
In between Wilsons fumble on a punt return aided tee up a third Slye field goal, as he strove to push the ball until two late Winston picks.
Both teams are on a bye next weekend, with the Panthers on the road in San Francisco to face a 49ers outfit in Week Eight. The Buccaneers choose about the Tennessee Titans.
The Bucs are currently in the midst of a run betweenhome games. The last time they played in Tampa was in Week Three – a loss to the New York Giants – plus they dont return until a Week 10 assembly with the Arizona Cardinals.
