Tennessee vs Florida: Free NCAAF Betting Picks and Game Predictions
Florida has Tennessee’s amount to get a decade-plus, but the No. 9 Gators will be with their starting quarterback if they host the Vols on Saturday.
Tennessee vs. Florida was one of the SEC’s best rivalries but those days are pretty much long gone now because the Vols program has fallen on such hard times in the last few years and they’ve been dominated in this series for some time. Florida has just 1 loss in the previous 14 meetings, coming at Knoxville once the Gators were ranked Tennessee 14th and 19th in 2016.
This past year, Florida rolled into a 47-21 street win when both have been unranked (UF has never lost in eight meeting when it is rated and UT isn’t). Feleipe Franks threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score. Tennessee switched it with four of these leading to 24 Gators points. The 47 points were Florida’s most. UT price itself by glancing a ball a touchdown and permitted a security. Jarrett Guarantano went 7 of 18 for 164 yards with two interceptions and a fumble.
No coach is about a hotter seat at the SEC right now compared to the Jeremy Pruitt of Tennessee. The Vols were embarrassed in their first two games at home, losing 38-30 to 29-26 in double overtime and also Georgia State to BYU. This was Tennessee’s first start since 1988.
Pruitt’s team got its first win over FCS brother Chattanooga, 45-0. Guarantano attempted only eight passes and completed seven to 142 yards and a career-high 3 touchdowns (all from the first half). Jauan Jennings is the Vol with a TD catch in each of the three games because Josh Malone in 2016 and caught a TD pass. Three Vols created their first career begins: Darnell Wright (true freshman) at right guard, K’Rojhn Calbert (redshirt sophomore) at right tackle and Kenneth George Jr. (redshirt junior) in cornerback. It was UT straight triumph over an competition that is in-state.
If the Vols get punked here, expect a growing number of chit chat about the faculty maybe chasing Ohio State and Gators head coach Urban Meyer doing work for Fox TV. Meyer recently said that he was»shocked» at the state of the Tennessee plan but it’s a»Top 10″ project in the country.
While this is Tennessee’s first true road game of the year, UF won 29-21 at Kentucky to find revenge for last year’s home upset loss also had its this week. The Gators trailed for most of the game, but went on a 19-0 run late to come back and win. Backup quarterback Kyle Trask directed UF .
Since Franks suffered a grisly ankle injury that has ended his 15, trask was enjoying. He had been carted off late in the fourth quarter when Franks was halted for no profit on. Franks was 12-for-17 for 147 yards and a touchdown. Trask, a junior from Texas, was 9-for-13 for 126 yards in his place. UF played Kentucky without recipient Kadarius Toney, that won’t go this week, possibly, and best cornerback C.J. Henderson. He could reunite throughout the Vols.
Coach Dan Mullen says that he intends to play with Trask along with redshirt freshman Emory Jones heading forward. Jones believed the team’s quarterback of the future and is a dual-threat quarterback, while Franks is more of a pocket passer. Mullen intended to play Jones some against UK also but changed his mind.
«Kyle was sort of hot,» Mullen said during his postgame press conference. «Therefore, we sort of stuck with that. I had a few stuff to get Emory in, but we just sort of stuck with Kyle since he had been rolling.»
Florida has won seven games overall. It also has scored at least 24 points at all those, the longest such streak since a 24-game stretch that started with a 28-24 loss to LSU on Oct. 6, 2007, and was snapped with a 23-13 win over Tennessee on Sept. 19, 2009. UF is 4-0 under Mullen in games decided by eight points or less.
